Experiential Training

My partnership with my incredible team at Denovo Therapy has allowed me to expand my mission to empowering others to provide psychedelic care to their communities. This includes training therapists interns, hosting medical school students, training clinical psychologists, training physicians, and teaching psychedelic care anywhere I can. As a team, DENOVO Therapy also offers in person experiential training retreats.

Each training is customized to fit the team capabilities, and psychedelic scaffolding needs of the trainees. Trainings can be as short as 2 days or as long as a week. Trainings contain some formalized and didactic material. However we take a student led pedagogical approach and adjust the material based on the internal wisdom of the learner. Common topic include:

  • What is the psychedelic model of care?

  • Medical and psychotherapeutic mechanisms of action for ketamine.

  • Comparisons of ketamine to other psychedelics.

  • Psychotherapeutic model offerings and restrictions to psychedelic care.

  • Medical model offerings and restrictions to psychedelic care.

  • Trauma informed care.

  • Illicit vs Therapeutic use of mind altering substances.

  • Systemic abuse in traditional mental health and medical systems and their effects on patients, clients, and staff.

  • Operational models that do not perpetuate that abuse.

  • Logistical and legal obstacles to delivering care.

  • Pros and cons for various psychedelic clinic infrastructure options.

  • Considerations for regional differences and phenomenology.

  • Recruiting a cross-disciplinary team.

  • Working in cross-disciplinary collaborative models.

Because the psychedelic model of care requires and demands personal psychedelic experiences, all our training include a patient relationship with the clinic with options for personal and group experiences. Guests also have options to shadow various aspects of clinic operations and practice performing sessions and procedures.

Below is a sample itinerary from a training. Note that your visit with us would look completely different. If you are local and interested in becoming a psychedelic therapist please reach out. If you are interested in a training retreat contact me or reach out to the clinic for more information.
